A catchy tune, delicious meal, clever joke…
…I want to embody the common denominator of human creativity.
No, I didn’t forget to change the template text, I’m being serious!
Growing up in the 90’s, my adolescence and early adulthood coincided with the emergence of digital technology as an accessible tool available to average people across the world. I was obsessed with the workings of popular music and taught myself anything I thought could help advance my career: how to play instruments, write songs, produce recordings, design show posters, edit videos, and think up clever marketing ploys for social media.
In 2009 I started college at the University of Iowa as a tuba performance major and pretty quickly figured out that I was more interested in pursuing a different creative route. I made the most of every credit taking classes in avant-garde poetry, video art, music composition lessons, drawing… when I graduated I was eager to begin my life as my own artist.
Over the next decade I made albums and toured across the country with different bands, all while holding down a day job working on marketing videos at the university. The pandemic effectively ended my tenure as a touring musician, and I began working on visual art more heavily in its absence.
I continue to study art under the instruction of Jimmy Miracle and can be found around Iowa City with a pen and sketchbook making notes of each day’s curiosities.
